Aalya Page- Principal

Teaching and working with students is my passion. I also love spending time with my husband and my three sons.  I am originally from Buffalo, NY.  I earned my BA from Canisius College in Elementary Education and moved to Las Vegas to teach in 1996.  I graduated from UNLV with my Master's in Educational Leadership. I worked as a Literacy Specialist for several years. It was in this position that I enhanced my knowledge in teaching reading. I also worked as a Project Facilitator in the District's Curriculum and Professional Development Division for three years.  After my experiences in researching literacy, developing curriculum, and training teachers, I was eager to get back to a school to share my experiences with staff, students, and parents.  I was the Assistant Principal at Bilbray from January 2005 to August 2006.  I have been the principal at Bilbray since 2006.  It is has been a pleasure working with such a wonderful and supportive community for so many years.

Karen Thomasson- Assistant Principal

‚ÄčI am originally from Sterling Heights, MI where I was born and raised.  All of my family still resides in the area I was raised and we try to get back "home" as often as possible.  I will forever be a University of Michigan football fan.  Go Blue!!!
I earned my BS in Elementary Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and quickly moved to Las Vegas to become a teacher with CCSD.  My first three years were spent teaching second grade.  During that time, I married my wonderful husband and we had our first son.  In 2008, I was given the privilege of opening a brand new school.  I spent five years at that school teaching fourth grade and also had my second son.  During my eight years in the classroom, I also worked as presenter for the Curriculum and Professional Development Division's math department.  I worked to create and deliver presentations to teachers throughout the district to aid them with their math instruction and planning.  During the 2013-2014 school year I worked as Performance Zone Instructional Coach.  In this position I was able to work with teachers one-on-one to help them improve their teaching in the classroom.  I was very blessed to receive the position of Assistant Principal at Bilbray ES and am so excited to be part of this amazing school community.
